There are many books to read,
the good reads list with the
Old books unread
and new books to read.
Voices from a history I do not know,
Perspective from a generation outside my century
their old words
infiltrating my world.
There are the words you see
and the words not on the page,
Words cut and deleted, old versions edited
and re-edited into the form holding in your hands.
There is pain in-between
the lines and
silence between the
pages.
This author wrote for you
and for themselves, the
birthing and birth pangs,
until in the flesh (or soundwaves)
the babe is shared with the world
and worlds collide.
I pray, Lord,
lead me to read only what
I need and write
only the words
that are mine and true.
