Otherwise

Prayer
Is the power
By which
That comes
To pass
Which otherwise
Would not take place.

The Rule of the Kingdom

"Whether we like it or not, asking is the rule of the kingdom."

Meditative Dishwashing

"Stop striving for the position of sonship you've already attained."

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for a truth like this to meditate on during the morning dishwashing. I highly recommend listening to the prayer room (ihopkc.org) and worshipping and praying while dishwashing... don't waste those "mundane moments"! He answers in the most beautiful and unexpected ways!

Seasonally, the Lord is circling me back the truths of how I live out of an orphan heart (striving for a Father's acceptance) to a Child's heart (trusting and resting in the acceptance and love of the Father).

The good news is this- Jesus paid a costly price to take away my shame, purchase my redemption and adoption. It is finished. I am secure. I belong to the Father.

Father, Abba, God, help me to stop striving for acceptance I already have in you.  Thank you for Your goodness to me, in calling me to be Your daughter. Thank you that You delight in me (Isaiah 62) and I can believe on that and revel in it. Even during the dishes. Especially while returning to work on Monday. Thank you in Jesus' Name.

Out of Hiding

This song hit me today... it was sung in the IhopKC prayer room and I was listening to the lyrics saying "this is me, right now.. lost at sea, without direction." (It was an excellent cover, btw, probably better than the original here). The perspective is GOD is singing this over his people, over his precious daughters and sons.

I am telling myself, I am with Jesus even in my lostness, and I want to see that reality is GOOD even (or especially) when everything is unsolved in my heart.

Lyrics:
So come out of hiding you are safe here with me
There’s no near need to cover what I already see
You’ve got your reasons but I hold your peace
You’ve been on lock down but I hold the key
Cause I loved you before you knew what was love
And I saw it all it all, but still chose the cross
You were the one I was thinking of when I rose from the grave

Now rid of the shackles my victory’s yours; I tore the veil so you could come close
There’s no reason to stand at a distance anymore, you’re not far from home

I'll be your lighthouse when you're lost at sea, and I will illuminate everything

No need to be frightened by intimacy, no just throw off your fear and come running to me

...Oh as you run, what hindered love, will only become part of the story
Beloved, you’re almost home now, please don’t quit now, you’re almost home now to me

(and my from IHOP)...You really have dreams in your heart for me, you have a destiny, you will bring it to pass

And though it's hard, I am trying to love the questions.

Abiding from Weakness

Abiding in Christ is just meant for the weak, and so beautifully suited to their feebleness. It is not the doing of some great thing and does not demand that we first lead a holy and devoted life. No, it is simply weakness entrusting itself to a Mighty One to be kept—the unfaithful one casting self on One who is altogether trustworthy and true. Abiding in Him is not a work that we have to do as the condition for enjoying His salvation, but a consenting to let Him do all for us, and in us, and through us. It is a work He does for us: the fruit and the power of His redeeming love. Our part is simply to yield, to trust, and to wait for what He has engaged to perform.

The frustration of silence

The frustration of silence.

To ask a loving father for a fish, and open-handed wait, until I am fed, can be trying.

Others cry, "He will give you a stone!" And another, "go teach yourself to fish," or "go down to the market, buy it!"

I look back and forth, my hands tremble. I've asked- did I use the wrong words? Did He not hear? Do I not want the fish enough?

My hands are clutched now, in tears, I've succumbed to doubting and am ready to run, to get out of here-

How could I have thought to ask him in the first place?

And then-
A fish.
Drops.
In.
My.
Hands.

One connection further down the road... the journey continues.

Let's make a history together/ Let's get to know one another
As you come to know me, You'll come to trust me / I reveal myself along the journey
